Gloucester Parkway Extension

  • Gloucester Parkway Extension

This $30 Million Design-Build project extended Gloucester Parkway from the Loudoun County Parkway to the intersection of Pacific Boulevard and Nokes Boulevard in Ashburn, Virginia.
The project included the design and construction of a four-lane divided highway, a new bridge over Broad Run, intersection improvements at Loudoun County Parkway (Route 607) and Pacific Boulevard (Route 1036), and trail and sidewalk improvements.

The extension completed an important east-west link between Ashburn and the Route 28 corridor by adding capacity to help alleviate congested parallel roads and to better distribute traffic along Route 28.

The entire Gloucester Parkway corridor now spans almost six miles, beginning at Belmont Ridge Road to the west and connecting with Nokes Boulevard to carry traffic beyond Route 28 to the east.

One of the features of the bridge over Broad Run is that it is an integral structure–built without joints and bearings to help reduce maintenance. This bridge was the longest “jointless” bridge in Virginia at the time of construction.

Quinn provided Quality Assurance and Quality Control and contributed to the development of the project Quality Management Plan. The Quinn team included a registered Virginia professional engineer as the Quality Assurance Manager, senior inspectors, inspectors, office engineer/materials documentation specialist, and lab technicians.
