Route 716 Bridge Replacement

  • Route 716 Bridge Replacement

Built in 1960, the original bridge over the Banister River was removed and replaced with a new structure and approaches to improve driver safety.

The new bridge is a steel truss bridge with drilled shaft foundations. A truss bridge was chosen in order to span the entire river. It also enabled the existing center pier to be removed, which was prone to damaging debris build-up.

Quinn provided a senior inspector for this project who oversaw work such as deck grooving, excavation, guardrail installation, form work, drainage installation, seeding, and sign installation. Additional responsibilities included interpreting plans and shop built drawings; testing concrete and soils; verifying structure alignment and elevations, as well as high strength bolt testing and torque verification.
